International Real Estate
I am originally from Wales (Cymru), in the United Kingdom, and relocated to North Carolina in 2003. I have always enjoyed meeting people from different countries and learning about their culture – I believe it is important to celebrate diversity in this networked, global world!
In 2010 I was awarded the prestigious Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation and joined a worldwide referral network of specially trained global real estate practitioners with expertise in working with international clients.
The CIPS Network comprises real estate professionals in over 50 countries who deal in all types of real estate, but with one common element: they are focused specifically on the international market, most often in their local area. Whether assisting foreign investors, helping local buyers invest abroad, or serving a growing immigrant population in local markets, CIPS designees are consumers’ best providers of professional skills in the unique aspects of international real estate. The CIPS designation complements my professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) an organization originally established in England in 1868 and now accepted as the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, construction and real estate - the world-wide mark of property professionalism – I earned MRICS designation in 1986. In addition to the rigorous coursework covering international business practices and cultural issues designees must also demonstrate achievement in international real estate transactions.
In 2011 Mike was elected to be President, in 2012, of the Triangle International Council of Realtors (TICOR), an organization of top agents with particular training and experience in international transactions and committed to ongoing professional education in this field.
